Safety barriers protect against collisions at world's largest e-commerce retailer in Sydney

A brand new BWU6 fulfilment centre in Sydney needed a solid barrier to protect pedestrians, equipment and infrastructure from forklift collisions. The distribution centre had several intersecting traffic streams. This made the risk of collisions very high. Boplan's safety expertise was called upon. Boplan's partner - NPSG Australia - installed various safety solutions such as the TB 400 PLUS, a robust collision protection system with handrails that not only protects against collisions but also guides pedestrians.

Challenge

Keeping different traffic flows separate in a busy distribution centre is not an easy task. The BWU6 fulfilment centre in Sydney required advanced safety solutions to protect workers, equipment and infrastructure in a high-traffic environment. They chose the Boplan safety barrier system for its outstanding performance, flexibility and durability.

Safety barriers with handrails that absorb impacts up to 20,1 kJ

TB 400 PLUS

Given the estimated impact, the TB 400 PLUS was installed. This safety barrier with integrated handrails provides good visibility and guidance. Pedestrians immediately notice the TB 400 PLUS when entering the workplace and are more cautious when crossing forklift aisles. In addition, this safety barrier stops the forklift in the event of a collision with its impact resistance of up to 20.1 kJ. They are needed in high-traffic environments or places where heavy loads are moved or transported, such as warehouses, manufacturing facilities and airports.

This safety solution is extremely impact resistant and flexible. The unique feature of the safety barriers is that even in the event of a collision, the anchor points remain secured to the floor and the flexible elements return to their original shape. It absorbs the impact and then returns to its original position.

SWING GATE

Gates and entrances are often left open. The FLEX IMPACT® SG SWING GATE has been installed to prevent this. This robust safety gate closes automatically to keep entrances closed at all times. It is also easy to install on our other FLEX IMPACT® safety solutions, such as our safety gates and handrail systems. Together, these safety solutions provide smooth and safe movement between the different areas of your shop.

Yellow Boplan TB 400 PLUS in NPSG factory

Boplan safety barriers, a game changer in terms of performance and durability.

They withstand impact, reduce damage and retain their original shape, appearance and function.

It is an improved system for us. Forklifts and other equipment tend to bounce off them, unlike the old steel guardrails, which would get damaged and then have to be replaced. In fact, they retain their colour and are very easy to maintain.

TB 260

The TB 260 was also installed. This safety barrier is similar to the TB 400 barrier, but lower to the ground. The lower tube prevents pallets from sliding under the barrier, preventing damage to machinery and infrastructure.

FLIP 200F

We have installed FLEX IMPACT® FLIP 200F kick rails to provide total protection at ground level. It's an excellent wheel guide for pallet trucks or transport trolleys and protects pedestrians against forklift forks. The innovative and strong I-shaped rail absorbs impacts up to 17 kJ. It is the perfect complement to the TB 400 PLUS.
