Pedestrians and equipment secured in JCL Logistics’ bicycle distribution centre
JCL Logistics was in need of robust safety solutions to protect pedestrians and infrastructure from forklift collisions. Boplan installed various protection products including rack protection, column protection, safety barriers, and handrails.
The challenge
In its busy distribution centre, JCL Logistics was in need of adequate safety protection to prevent industrial accidents and damage to equipment. A safety analysis mapped the pedestrian and traffic flows and showed the high risk of forklift collisions. Pedestrians were vulnerable in open spaces near stairs or when entering the logistics area. Ventilation and fire safety systems were also at risk of damage.
To avoid accidents, it is necessary to alert pedestrians to forklift traffic. In addition, pedestrians and installations must be protected in the event of steering errors and inattentiveness of forklift drivers. Boplan’s specific safety solutions served to increase safety at this workplace.
The safety products make pedestrians aware of forklift traffic and ensure they are more vigilant when entering the logistics centre. They are located in a secured zone when crossing, protecting them even if the forklift driver is inattentive. We firmly believe we have made the best choice to increase the safety of people and infrastructure with these safety products.

Rack protection
In a high-traffic distribution centre, a stacking rack is a vulnerable asset. An accident can happen quickly; in the best-case scenario, there is only limited damage. Unfortunately, even worse accidents happen. JCL Logistics relies on RACKBULL® for rack protection. This innovative rack protection prevents stacking racks from collapsing in the event of collisions and is easy to install. An additional advantage is that the exact size does not matter as the RACKBULL® fits different diameters.
Column protection
Columns also often suffer from collisions. The KP Protector offers ideal protection here. This round column protector helps prevent damage from collisions with masts and load-bearing pillars. The KP Protector comes in different sizes and, like our other FLEX IMPACT® products, retains its shape, appearance and properties after impact.

Handrails
A combination of plinths and handrails protects pedestrians, infrastructure, and equipment. The FLIP Plus consists of ergonomic handrails and has a sturdy plinth at the bottom. It shields the ventilation system, prevents people from falling into the open space, and prevents the system from being damaged when pallets are stored here.
